Lions Youth of the Year

Sadly, this project is not happening in the Melbourne bayside area this year. (Zone 9)

We sincerely hope that it is resurrected in 2025

Pictured (2nd from left) is 'Emma'  from Parkdale  Secondary College, was declared 'Overall Winner' at Zone level.   Emma will go forward  to the District level  on 26th March 2022.
Emma is sponsored by the Lions Club of Moorabbin

The program is designed to encourage, foster and develop leadership in conjunction with other citizenship qualities in our youth, at the age when they are about to enter the fields of employment or higher education, and provides students with the incentive to pay greater attention to the general qualities, so vital in developing our youths into first class citizens. The qualities sought, apart from academic attainments are those of leadership, personality, sportsmanship, public speaking and good citizenship. The students meet in fellowship and have the opportunity of open discussion, exchange of ideas and meet professional people from their community and from a community service Club organization.

Our Club involvement:

Since inception of the Lions Youth of the Year program, Moorabbin Lions have hosted a  Club Level quest in providing the opportunity for local youth who strive for excellence in academic fields, community involvement, and sporting achievement to further develop their skills in 'presenting at an interview' and public speaking.
